Actionable Recommendations

Reasons not to act

At a time when the risk of nuclear war is increasing, actions to prevent nuclear war are vital to humanity’s future. Coinciding with the 80th anniversary of the Trinity Test and the dawn of the nuclear age, the Assembly gathered Nobel Laureates and nuclear experts to discuss and debate nuclear challenges.

The resulting Declaration calls on world leaders to commit to 14 actionable recommendations to reduce the risk of nuclear war.

SUMMARY & GOALS OF THE ASSEMBLY

The Assembly will convene the world’s foremost experts on nuclear weapons at a critical moment in global security, and is designed to produce actionable, pragmatic recommendations. The Nobel Laureates serve as a stand-in for the world’s collective conscience–by convening them alongside domain experts, the Assembly aims to directly engage with policymakers and institutions to drive meaningful change at a time of unprecedented risk of nuclear conflagration.

The Assembly will negotiate and sign a Declaration establishing a set of guiding principles to shape nuclear diplomacy in the decade ahead.
